First Foods

The other day I gave the bug his first taste of real food. I gave him some cereal a couple times, but the more I read about it the more I found out that avocado's were a GREAT first food for baby. So the other day he had some avocado and he loved it. There is so much nutrition in avocado that he is actually gaining calories and fat from it.

Lately

We have been busy enjoying the nice weather. It is so good for the boys to be able to be outside every night for a little while after dinner again. They LOVE helping their dad mow the lawn and have had fun helping with the garden this year.
Monk was busy with the side walk chalk the other night and I was just amazed at how his drawings have really evolved. He drew a caterpillar which he told us the name of in Spanish. The guy with all the arms is a monster. The best one was above the caterpillar. I wish I would have gotten a close up of that one, but it was a bee.

I took the Monk man to get his hearing and vision tested for kindergarten next year. He did wonderfully.

Also at our house we have had a Nemo saga. In a previous post I mentioned how much Bebo loves this little Nemo. Well this past Sunday was lost him. He has been lost in the past, but we have always been able to find him. On Monday we still couldn't find him so I ordered a couple more so that we would have one and a back up and I ordered them from the store we got it from in FL. I found one on-line place that had them, but they were in California. That's too many days to wait for it to get here. Anyway last night I was dusting and I found Nemo inside something so now we have THREE Nemos! Oh my!

Makes Me Smile

There was some major supervision while doing this. Isn't it just too cute. Monk helps me out a lot with the Buggy. He holds him when I need someone to hold him and talks to him when I need a couple extra minutes to finish something. Having an older sibling with a baby has been so much fun this time around.

My Dutch Handsomes

There is something about a little boy in a dutch costume that pulls at my heart strings.

The Dentist for Bebo

Bebo went to the dentist for the first time the other day. He did such a good job! I knew that the dentist would say something about his thumb sucking and of course he did. He was reasonable in saying just to try to get him to cut back a little.
Beside his thumb sucking habit he checked out good. No cavities for either of the boys...YET!

Kinderplaats

Our first year attending kinderplaats. I have always heard good things about it so we thought we would try it. The boys had a lot of fun and the best part is adults are free. You don't see that a lot of places. They got their face painted and Monk got blue hair color.

The Bug took a snooze in the wrap.

Monk's favorite part.

Afterwards the boys enjoyed a hot dog and cotton candy.

Mother's Day for Me

This year Mother's Day is extra special for me. Last year on this very day I found out that I was going to have another baby. It was a bit of a long journey when I tried to get pregnant for a third time so finding out that there was life inside of me again was even more exciting if that is even possible.

Being a mother for me has probably been one of the hardest things that I have ever done. When you become a Mom you give up a lot of your self and you are forced to put yourself last. Some days are long and let's face it there have been a lot of times that I wish I had a re-do button, but I have recently had an overwhelming feeling that being a Mom was what I was intended to do. I have been so blessed to have wonderful role models in my life such as my Grandma and my own Mother to teach me what being a Mom means and how to be love my children unconditionally. There are so many wonderful moments as a Mom. I know that I have experienced just a few like first steps, hearing "I love you" for the first time, and seeing the joy on your child's face when they accomplish something, but for me two of the most wonderful moments are the moment you find out there is going to be another human being that you are going to be able to love and that your body is going to grow and nurture for 9 months. The other is the picture above. I wish that I had access to this picture with all three of my kids, but I don't so this is one of the bug. There are not a whole lot of things better than the moment you meet that little person face to face. The moment you finally see who has been kicking inside of you. This moment to me is the kind of awe that I want to strive to have everyday with my children. So even though my hair is a mess from being in labor and the bug is a little blue, this is one of my favorite pictures. It reminds me what being a mom is all about. I love my three boys so much and am blessed beyond measure. Happy Mother's Day!

Four Month Well Child

I took the Bug in to the doctor yesterday for his 4 month well child check up. He weighed in at 13 pounds 6 ounces and was 24.5 inches long. He has been staying right around the 25th percentile so he is kind of a little peanut, but healthy. He has a pretty bad case of eczema so we are holding off on any baby food at this point unless he really seems like he needs more. Other than that the doc says he looks GREAT! Hooray for healthy babies!

Four Months 5/3/11 - Buggy

Four months little man! In the last month your little personality is starting to come out more and more. We see your smiles all the time and hear your laughter daily. I love your squishy little cheeks so much that I could kiss them 1,000 times in a row and still feel like that hadn't been enough.
You are happy most of the time and you do the same thing most days. You love your little schedule and are happiest when we stay on it. Car rides have not been your favorite, but in the past month they have gotten better. You can make it about 10 minutes or so without getting grumpy where as before you would start crying the minute we pulled out of the driveway. This makes going to pick up your brother from school a little easier.

Your brothers just adore you. Monk helps out a lot by holding you when I need some help and talking to you while I make lunch. You LOVE watching your brothers play and smile when they come and talk to you. You have also started rolling over from your tummy to your back.

You are wearing 3-6 month clothes still and have moved up two size two diapers which made me a little sad. You are nursing 7-10 times a day still, but are only getting up at around 5 am and then going back to bed until 8 or 8:30. This has been the BEST change in the last month for your Mama.

Oh Bug, I love you so much! You are such a little honey. I can't get enough of you. I have been enjoying watching you grow and change in the past four months. I love to smell your little head. I love to get your little baby body out of your crib in the morning and snuggle with your fleece sleeper goodness. I love you so much always and forever, Mama.
