Do you have a Guess?

I have a couple of friends that have done this and it has been fun to enter in the info and see what everyone else thinks. Here is your chance to guess what the new baby is going to be. I know that it is maybe a little early to guess, but I know that for a lot of woman they have a gut instinct from the moment they find out someone else is pregnant. I am looking forward to seeing what everyone thinks it is. Even the dad of the baby needs to guess, yup that means you honey!

Baby T Update

Well let's see where do I begin...I got a call from the doctor's office on Friday around noon and they told me that the measurements looked good, but that they had not gotten the reports from the radiologist yet. Then I got a voicemail message on Friday night at about 5:07 on my cell phone that I did not get until Saturday night because I was picking up Monk at that time and left my phone in the car all weekend. The voicemail said that they wanted to repeat the ultrasound because they did not get clear enough pictures of the diaphragm, face, and spine. I was so bummed that I missed the call because this voicemail could be interpreted in so many ways. I have to admit that I was still a little worried that something was wrong because of all the things that we did see, the face and the spine were the clearest of anything. I decided that I was going to call the doctor on Monday morning to get a full report as to why we were doing the second ultrasound. I called this morning and my doctor's nurse told me that we were doing a repeat ultrasound solely because they needed some better pictures not because they suspected any abnormalities. What a relief! I am excited to be able to see the baby again and hopefully I will be able to see it a little more clearly this time around.

My husband's motto is don't worry until you have something to worry about, which is very GREAT advice, but I couldn't help myself. From the moment that I found out I had a little baby growing inside of me, I already wanted to love it, to protect it, and had this fighting urge of wanting the best for it. I am actually glad that I had a little scare and that I did some worrying because some great things have come from this. I have learned to not take things for granted. This weekend I was again overwhelmed with this feeling of being blessed that Monk is healthy and well. So many of us take for granted having healthy kids with no big problems. There are many parents out there that don't have this luxury. So I often found myself kissing and hugging Monk a little more. I would sneak in his room at night, as I always do, but instead of just quickly making sure that he was warm enough, I watched him for a longer time and just touched his soft skin. Secondly I was reminded by a sermon on Sunday from the story of Hannah that God knows everything about us. Again I have always known this, but this sermon came at just a time when I needed to be reminded of it again. God knew that Hannah longed for a baby even before she started praying for one and he had Samuel in mind for her. God knows how many babies are going to be in my family and what their eye color, hair color, personality, and faults are going to be like. This gave me tons of peace because I knew that whatever this baby was going to be, it had a purpose. So all in all I am glad that this worry entered my life because I was reminded of some very valuable lessons.

Thank you all for your prayers. I believe that because of them I was able to hold back my tears. For any of you that have been pregnant you know that most anything makes you cry so this was surely making the tears flow, but since I posted my last blog entry the tears stopped flowing as much as they were. So anyway thanks to everyone and here's to baby T #2!

Ultrasound

Well let me first start off with the good news. I saw that little baby on the screen and was once again amazed at what God can do. It was a teeny tiny person that was moving inside of me. It brought it's hands up to it's face just like a little newborn baby would do. As I had with Monk, I could not believe that this little being was growing inside of me and how is it that God chose me to carry this exact baby? What makes me so lucky?

As some of you know the ultrasound technicians cannot say a whole lot while they are performing the ultrasound. They are not able to tell you if anything is wrong with the baby and I knew that so I refrained from asking questions. More than a couple times the tech said that the baby was laying in an odd position which was all scrunched up and with it's spine facing outwards. She never said though that this was the reason that the ultrasound lasted more than an hour. That's right it lasted for over an hour and we only got three pictures, all of the face, so as far as we know our baby only has a head. I knew that this was a long time because on the sheet that I got with instructions for the ultrasound it said it would take about 45 minutes for a single baby. I only have one other ultrasound to compare it to and that was with Monk. With him we got 6 pictures, one of the face, a whole body profile, a foot, a spine, a heartbeat and a couple of other ones. His ultrasound was very clear, we could see the whole baby at one time and it was so much more reassuring. With this baby the screen was white most of the time and all we could see were little holes here and there. The tech spent a lot of time on the head and the spine. I am not sure if this was because she could not get a good measurement of them or if it was because there was something wrong. One more thing that concerned me was that she printed out four pictures and one of them she took out before giving them to us and placed it face down on the desk and didn't tell us the reason why.

Now I know that I am pregnant and that my sensitivity is surely heightened, but I have been pretty worried about this baby. I keep replaying the whole time that we were in that room over and over in my head wondering. I never had this with Monk. After I had the ultrasound with him I felt reassurance that this baby was healthy and well. I will blog as soon as I find out the results, which will probably be a week or so, but until then I would really appreciate some prayers that the baby is healthy, that God can wipe away my worry and tears, and that both Fisherman and I can be at peace until we find out the results.

Zoo Trip

Yesterday we took Monk to the zoo. It was a little disappointing that some of the exhibits were closed for the summer including the sting ray lagoon, which I REALLY wanted to see, but we had a GREAT time and since we went during the week it was not very busy. I loved it because I felt like I was able to get some pictures that I would have not been able to get if there would have been a million people around. I took something like 100 pictures and so I decided to do a slide show again. Well actually two slide shows because all the pictures that I wanted to share would not fit into one show. I hope that you enjoy.

Hug a Bug Baby

Since I have been pregnant I have been doing a lot of reading on "baby wearing." I know that I will have my hands full with this second baby and have heard that "wearing" your infant in a carrier can help ease the work load a bit. I am really interested in wraps and there is a give-a-way on one of the blogs that I read for a gauze wrap. I REALLY want to win it so in order to do so I have to post this little bit about it. So here is to winning. The wrap is from http://hugabugbaby.com Check it out if you are interested.

Nineteen Months 09/08/07 - Monk

On Saturday you turned 19 months. You are a talking monster, except of course when we are in a group of people or when someone asks you to say something. Everyday your dad and I ask each other, "have you heard that word yet?" It seems like you are adding 2-4 more words a day. We are really going to have to watch what we say around you and often find ourselves spelling words out like C-O-O-K-I-E and anything that has to do with a ride on some type of motorized vehicle. I can't say that we are doing anything ahead of time that is really exciting to you because otherwise you have a mental breakdown when we don't do it right away. I have to make sure that I am fully ready to leave the house before the words bye-bye leave my lips. One of my favorite features that you posses is your long eye lashes. Many people comment on them and say what a waste for a boy to inherit those. I attempted to capture them in a picture, but it was hard to get the darkness and the length all in one. They are truly beautiful though.
I love to carry you, but since your new brother or sister has been growing larger inside of me I have had to let you walk a little more. See, you are such a busy body that I don't get much opportunity to cuddle you so when I was able to carry you from here to there I thought of that as my cuddle time. You would grab unto my shirt and it just made me feel so loved, but now I have also found the silver lining in you walking as well because you hold my hand and there is not a whole lot of things out there that are better than having a little palm with tiny little fingers resting in my adult sized hand. Every time that your hand reaches up to hold unto mine I smile.
Your dad and I often thank you when you do something of importance for instance when you throw away your wrapper after you are done eating your fruit snacks. We have always done this and this morning when I was putting you into your car seat to bring you to Nana's you were helping me buckle you in and I said, "Thank you buddy." Without missing a beat you said back to me, "tank you....mama." I looked at you with tears in my eyes and said, "Your welcome monk." I was in awe not only that you said a sentence, but that you taught me a lesson in that moment. Sometimes I am in such a hurry in the mornings when I have to go to work, but those three words made me realize that I need to slow down. You enjoy so many of life's little things and have encouraged me to do the same. I love you Monk and thanks for teaching me so much!
Love, Mama

Bubbles

Another slide show because I took too many pictures. I don't care for how the quality of my pictures goes downhill with the slide show, but I like how easy they are. These pictures remind me of all the joys of childhood. I hope they bring back some childhood memories for you as well.

Johnny's

Labor Day weekend we went to visit Grandpa and Grandma. It was our 6th wedding anniversary on the 1st so the parents were able to go and enjoy a night to themselves while Monk stayed with Grandpa and Grandma. On Monday we took Monk to a little nature park where they had all kinds of farm type animals. He thought that it was the greatest thing to feed the animals corn. He had a riot and it was so much fun for us to see him enjoy something so much. I have a habit of taking WAY too many pictures and then I have a hard time choosing which ones to stick on the blog so I thought that I would try one of these slide show things. I still didn't use half the pictures I took, but here are some favorites
