Buzz Cut

This is my first attempt at cutting Monk's hair myself. When I found out that it was $12 to get a little boy's hair cut I decided that I could save the money and do it myself. I started cutting away and then I saw how much hair came off and I almost started to cry. Since I started I had to finish because I had already taken a big chunk out of the front. At first I was a little sceptical because it was a big change, but the more that I see him with it the more that it grows on me.

Pure Bliss

We had some EXCELLENT weather this weekend and learned that Monk truely loves the outdoors. He would cry when we had to go inside. Saturday we spent most of the day outside. We hope that all of you were able to enjoy the nice weather if you had some too.

Stubborn with a side of mischief

If someone were to look at this picture of this sweet little boy with a cute hat and a big smile they would never suspect what is to follow.
They would never think that he was too stubborn and wanted to do everything his way even if it meant eating his cereal with a medicine syringe.
Or that he would put anything that he could get his hands on into the toilet. This is a picture of a onesie that Monk had in the toilet. He was pulling it in and out of the toilet pulling water out unto the floor and all over his jammies. I got him cleaned up before I took the picture because I was so disgusted. Later when I thought about it what difference would two more minutes have made when he was already soaking wet. I could have had a great picture for his baby book. Other things that have made it into the toilet this week, frankie, and almost the cordless phone. I know that you are thinking, where are the parents, but this happens all in a matter of seconds so now Fisherman and I are practicing shutting the lid.
And not only does he play in the toilet water, but he knows how to flush it too. Man oh man!

Fourteen Months Old 4/9/07 - Monk

I am a little late on writing this, but you are now fourteen whole months old. I can't believe that last year at this time you were only two months and I was just getting ready to go back to work after spending some unforgettable time with you. A lot of things have changed since then that is for sure.

This past month has been filled with some sickness because why should we be able to be healthy for 5 minutes over at our house? You had croup and it was one of the scariest things that I have ever been thru. At night when you would have the attacks you were unable to catch your breath. I didn't know what to do. I just wanted to take it all away from you and experience it myself, but along with this sickness from the last month came a lot of laughter. You are a little ham kid. You make me laugh all the time. I am beginning to see your little personality emerge and I hate to say it, but it is an awful lot like your dad's. You are funny when you are around people that you are comfortable with and you are quiet when you are around people that you don't know well. You take things as they come and are overall a pretty laid back kind of guy.
These past couple of months we have been blessed with you sleeping a little more than usual. We deserve it though after all those half hour naps. I am probably going to be cursed just by saying this, but now you at least take two 45 minute naps a day most of the time a little longer. It might have something to do with the fact that you play in your crib for the majority of the time that you are in there. Sometimes I peak in your room while you are in your crib and I just laugh because you are taking to yourself and just being a little monkey.
The picture above reminds me of one of the many great days that we shared together. It was warm as you can see from your attire and you were making me laugh and laughing yourself and those legs oh my word are they scrumptious. This was one of those days that we were able to play outside and oh man do you love the outside. I got some bubbles for you and you carry them around like they are the world's greatest treasure.
Things you love include playing outside, taking things out of a bin, putting them somewhere, and then putting them all back (shown above), EATING, and getting mommy and daddy's tummy. Things you hate include the steroids you had to take for your croup, getting in your car seat, and being told no. Monk every day I have with you is a true blessing. I am so lucky to be able to laugh and spend time with you. You have taught me so many things and you can't even talk yet. I love you kid, with everything that I have.
Mama

HAPPY EASTER!

What every boy who's mom doesn't like him to have much sugar could want on Easter. Some gerber graduates snacks and a new shopping cart/high chair cover because Monk has been sick soooooooooo much this winter. He loved his Easter Surprises from Papa and Nana.
The best picture that I could get of him because he was soooooo busy all day. Monk had a great Easter until the very end. He came down with croup and had kind of a rough night. We hope that all of your Easter's were a little bit more enjoyable.

The Best Day of my Life!

Today I had a morning that I will never forget. Monk called me mama for the first time. He has been saying it for a long time, but this morning he finally connected that my name is indeed mama and that, oh my word, I answer when he calls me that. After I head it come out of his mouth clear as day I began praising him up and down so that he would continue to do it and then my eyes welled up with tears and I could hardly contain my joy. I cannot even describe to you the feeling that I had in my heart in that moment. Our eyes met and I saw the excitement in his eyes as I began praising him. Moments like these are greater than anything else that life has to offer. Thank you Monk for making my day, my year!
