Memorial Day Weekend

We had a GREAT long weekend as a family. On Saturday Monk played in his pool with his mom while Dad was outside working on the garage. On Monday we went to the parade which Monk loved. He loved watching the bands go by and waving his flag. All the activities made for a tired baby so Mom and Dad were able to sleep in until 8:00 am a couple of days.

Love the Swing - Hate the Sand

Last week I took Monk to the park. We have been trying to take advantage of this nice weather so in the mornings we clean clean clean the house and then at lunch we get to play for a little while. Monk LOVED the swing. He thought that it was a pretty cool thing that there was a swing just his size. We ate our lunch together in the shade and then headed down to the beach. I thought that Monk would love the feeling of the sand in his toes, but when I took his shoes off and set him down in the sand he looked down and started crying. He did not like that his feet were getting dirty one bit so I put his crocs back on and he was happy to watch the waves kiss the shore.

Where's the Swim up Bar?

$8 of fun! We bought Monk a little pool and he loves it to pieces. He wanted to spend all day in it yesterday. The first picture is after his whole body fell in the water, even his hat is wet. He was a trouper about the whole incident.

Fifteen Months 05/08/07 - Monk

Fifteen months kid. This past month has been a blast. I feel like I am so much more free and that you are able to experience something new, different, and exciting every day. My focus has been on showing you different things whether it be food, nature, or man made things. You have become my little buddy. We do most everything together and when you are not around I feel a little lonely. I believe that we share moments together like real friends. There are times when you start laughing at something in a Baby Einstein movie and you look at me like, "Mom are you seeing how funny this is because this is good stuff." I love when I discover new things about you and how when I see the dimples in your cheeks it makes me smile because that is something that we share and realizing that you are an extension of me and your dad brings so much joy to my heart.
This picture is taken during one of my favorite times of the day. Before you take your nap we crawl up unto the bed and read a book or watch a movie together. These are the moments when you make me laugh the most and the cuddling that happens on that bed, oh my word! We laugh together while I tickle your belly and tell you that I am going to get you or while you lift up my shirt to expose my tummy and give me zerberts with the best of um.
You are figuring things out and understanding what is going on in the world around you. When I ask if you want to go brush your teeth, go outside, or read a book you run (or as good as a 1 yr. old can run) to start your task. When asked if you want to brush your teeth you run to the bathroom, put your little patties up on the counter, stand on your tip toes, and wait until I scoop you up to put you on the counter. You connect so many things together. Just recently you connected putting on a hat to going outside. I got you dressed in the morning and put a cute little hat on that you were going to wear for the day. You instantly ran to the door to go outside and proceeded to throw a fit when you found out that it was not time to go out yet.
We went to the doctor yesterday for your 15 month check up. You weighed in at 23 pounds and 7 ounces and were 31 inches tall. That puts you at the 35 percentile for weight and the 50th percentile for height. The Doctor found it encouraging that you were gaining some weight. Your favorite words to say are mama, dada, tick tock, and hi. You can also make the sounds that the dog and the duck make. You have 8 teeth now and are working on getting your other 3 one year molars.
Family time has taken on a whole new meaning since you are becoming older and also since the weather has gotten nicer. There are so many more opportunities for us to do this summer since you are becoming a toddler. I miss the baby in you, but I am enjoying the toddler that is emerging. The fact that you can comprehend what I am saying to you is such a blessing. I love spending time with you and my hope is that we can continue to become the best of friends as the years pass.
Love you Kid!
Mama
